For residents, who typically have limited resources and options, the marketplace is littered with predatory businesses – check cashers and money transmitters. The reality for residents is tough:
- Unreasonably expensive transaction costs for the most simple of transactions in today’s world,
- Travel time and expense to purchase money orders,
- Long wait times to pay rent, and
- A general difficulty operating in today’s increasingly digital marketplace.

Uflex Rent Pay
- Uflex Rent Pay supports residents’ ability to pay their monthly rent online.
- Residents who have an active checking account can access Uflex Rent Pay and make their monthly rental payment online.
Uflex Utility Allowance Card
- With Uflex Utility Allowance Card, on behalf of housing authorities, Uflex will provide residents who receive monthly utility allowances with an Akimbo Uflex Prepaid Mastercard® in lieu of a monthly check.
- The Akimbo Uflex Prepaid Mastercard may be used everywhere Debit Mastercard is accepted.
- Residents who are employed can also choose to load the Uflex cards with direct deposit of their paychecks.
- Once issued, Uflex will load the cards for each resident on a monthly basis, as directed by each participating housing authority.
